Starting in 2002 with one tent and a bus, the event has grown year on year. 2010 saw over 1000 visits a day from people all over Thanet, the volunteers serving the event numbered just over 250, and we expanded for the first time into the next field for extra space, so that we could provide 5 daily venues: information & registration, catering, office, family fun days on the weekends and family themed evening events every night in our big top tent, all of which is free as a gift to the community!
Lark in the Park is the time of year when we can all get together to serve our community. It’s church for 2 weeks! Setting up serving together, serving the community, laughing and making Jesus louder than words! Ask anyone in the church and they will have some kind of memory from the event and exciting stories to share. This year’s event will have many of the same fun activities, as well as new and exciting things taking place. There are daily teaching and training, and this year we will be having a special focus on honouring volunteers. With a huge number of people each year giving up their time, holidays and money to serve each other and their community, it’s an area we really want to celebrate.
