WHAT IS JESUS REVOLUTION_
|
Jesus Revolution is the community of young people connected to Glo Gen.
We are passionate about God and committed to encouraging all young people in embracing their potential by following Jesus and transforming their own environments by being radical in their faith; innovators, not imitators and winning their peers into the kingdom of God!
Jesus Revs is a home for our young people: It's expression of our faith is relevant to emerging cultures and engages with the issues and challenges that young people face. Its fully loaded with opportunities to grow, hang out and reach out...its quite simply a Church within a Church!
The last year has been full of fun, mischief, adventures in God and huge increase in the numbers and maturity of our young people at Glo Gen.
There are so many stories of young people who we did not even know at the beginning of 2010 that start 2011 as part of our community and with a relationship with Jesus.
Story upon story has been coming through of young people stepping out and praying for friends, inviting them to different events, coming with them to Alpha, moving in the prophetic, developing spiritual gifts and seeing how they can contribute to the Kingdom of God.
One young person wanted their friend to come to Alpha so much, that they invited all their friends from school who were Christians to come, so that her other friend would be more likely to come too. On week 4 she asked one of the table hosts if she could become a Christian and then went out with one of our Soul Group Leaders to chat about how to do that and prayed a prayer to commit her life to Jesus. It was Awesome!
Since the summer we have baptised 8 young people and have got more queuing up for 2011.
It’s a great privilege being able to host so many new Christians in our community. This throws up a number of challenges that we need to embrace in order to make sure that our young people not only come through, but also can develop an intimate and mature relationship with God, enabling them be radical in their pursuit of the Kingdom of God.
One of the things we have decided to do to try and help this process is to create online Bible Notes that will get sent out every day to our young people. These notes will offer a few thoughts as well as the text and room opportunity for discussion to make reading the Bible as accessible as possible. Together we will read The New Testament through 2011 pretty much from start to finish.
This is a really exciting development, mainly because it has come through conversations and ideas from our young people who are hungry to get stuck into the Word of God! Throughout the year, we will also be putting more things in place with a focus of maturing our young people into devoted 21st Century Disciples... so watch this space.
