People were not meant to live life alone; and nobody is an island. We as a church believe that we were built to share life together, and so community is one of the core values of the church. So basing ourselves on the beginning of the church in Acts 2, we developed Soul Groups. Soul Groups are modern day communities that seek to live out authentic Christ-like lifestyles.
They are communities that seek to be inspiring, encouraging, and inclusive of all people from all walks of life. They give people an opportunity to share their lives, the real issues they face and look for God’s heart in all of it. These are groups that aim to inspire people to change, enable everyone to participate, with the capacity to expand, and multiply to make new disciples. The first church was built around eating, encouraging, learning about Jesus together, and our Soul Groups aim to do the same. At a Soul Group you could expect to learn to be a follower of Jesus, become part of a community, share meals together, pray, worship and explore the bible together.
The underpinning value of all Soul Groups though is to be communities that learn how to follow Jesus together. This year, Soul Groups have been increasing in number and we have been developing more leaders. Teaching is now more focused on how we can move forward and groups have become more aware of the great need to serve one another, and expand that love to others. Soul Groups are absolutely open to anyone, and is a great chance for us to make our own community within the church outside of a Sunday gathering so come along and spend time with your family!!

Last year, Soul Groups were increasing in number, with more leaders being developed and more Soul Groups being set up. We also saw a new teaching system that gave us a concise and challenging view of what the teachings of the Bible were about, and this was seen in September when we focused on prayer, with the teaching helping us to grow in more powerful ways of praying as the months went on. Christmas last year also saw the delivery of multiple Christmas hampers made by Soul Groups and then given out to people in the community who the Soul Group thought about and then wanted to give to together. It was a great way for us as Soul Groups to show that we are community together, and it was great just to see the look on people’s faces when they received their hamper, and to know it would make a difference to them this Christmas. So, in this next year, we are looking for more of the same; more growth, teaching, and definitely more of God in the mix! We are already developing New Soul Groups in Westgate and Ramsgate, as well as starting a brand new Fun Factory Soul Group, that will take place for mums and dads who are unable to make it out in the evening, but still want to be a part of the Glo gen community.So this New Year will be looking to make sure that everyone can be a part of a Soul Group – and can be a part of this amazing adventure that God has planned for us in 2011!
